When I think of Father’s Day, my heart goes in many directions.
I’m grateful for my own dad who raised me in church, and taught me the value of hard work and dedication to family. But I also think of those with difficult dads, those who don’t know their dad, and those who have lost their dad. These conflicting thoughts are tough.
We have many close friends whose families have been shaken by the loss of their husband and father and are facing another Father’s Day without him. Also, a father and his family having to face their first Father’s Day without his wife.
Real-life situations can be so painful!
I also think of my son, Beau, who has been with the Lord now for 16 years. I miss him so much and hope I was a good dad, but wish I could have been a better one and spent more time with him.
The bottom line is, we live in a broken world, and special holidays like Father’s Day bring conflicting and tender feelings. There’s joy AND there’s pain. That’s why Paul said in Romans 12:15, Rejoice with those who rejoice AND weep with those who weep. We should be sensitive and do both!
Thankfully, there’s one solid truth that keeps us together: our Heavenly Father, who is perfect and good in all His ways. We can all look to Him for comfort and help, regardless of our circumstances.
May God bless you and comfort you on this special day,

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort. 2 Corinthians 1:3
